Some Fruit Won’t Wait
Know What’s Ripe, and Tend to That First
If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my adult life, it’s that you can’t go full steam all the time. It took me till fairly late in my adult life to get the message, but the lesson is sinking in. It’s one of those lessons life seems pretty intent on teaching us.
As I was looking over my summer schedule—kids out of school, important projects at work, and all the rest—I made a decision this week to hit pause on the newsletter for a few weeks. It’s not that I can’t keep up. But I can’t keep up if I want to show up for my children and business the way I need to right now.
And what is this important work project? We’re rolling out an entirely new training program within our Double Win Coaching program, and I’m teaching the first track. In fact, I developed the content with my husband Joel J Miller and our teammate Hannah Williamson.
Friends, I’m so excited about this material. I got to go through a version of it with my women’s mastermind in April. We’re exploring how to use your unique skills and giftings at work to actually help you do more of what you were made to do and less of everything else.
There is no magic math that lets you work 50 or 60 hours a week and still have time for what makes life meaningful outside of work. If you want to lead a flourishing life, you have focus on high-leverage work so you can save time for the rest of what really matters, instead of getting bogged down in low-leverage work that doesn’t produce significant results.
But for me to get these new trainings finalized and delivered I need to focus on that.
My blackberry bushes reminded me of why. When the berries are ready, they need to be picked. I could be doing dozen other things in the garden, but if I leave fruit on the vine, I won’t get to enjoy it. It’ll either rot or the critters will get it. No, sir. Have you ever tasted a fresh-picked blackberry? I want those for myself! And that means I have to turn my attention to what’s happening on those vines.
That’s what I have to do with this newsletter for a period. Don’t worry. Once the picking’s done, I’ll be back. Right now I’m planning on mid-July. Until then, here’s to winning at work and flourishing in life. That’s my hope for you.
What about you? Do you have any areas of your life that require special attention right now, even if it’s only for a season? Tell me in the comments.
If this post resonated and you’d like more like it when I back in July, give me a heart ❤️ below, restack, and share. And if you haven’t subscribed, take a second and do that now so you don’t miss what’s coming next.

And we all need time to play too.
Thank you for modeling the need to pause on one thing to make room for another! Look forward to learning more about the training. Best wishes for this season.
